Window Wiper Therapy.
At the end of a busy and stressful day take five minutes in the carpark before you leave work. Sit and scan your body and notice where the tension is, notice what thoughts or stories of the day are still with you. Turn your wipers on and let your eyes follow the wipers as they cross the window screen. Try to do it without turning your head. So just your eyes tracking the wipers back and forth for about a minute. Stop the wipers and check in with your self. How is your body feeling? Are you still carrying that story or image or has it got a bit blurry. Turn on the wipers again and repeat the tracking, getting into a rhythm and a flow, just your eyes tracking. After about 2 mins check in and see how you feel? Hopefully a bit more relaxed. Ready for home now?
Let your nervous system uncouple the sensations and images from the short term memory loop. So that the image / story can be filed as from the past not to be experienced in the present form.
Using bilateral stimulation from Guided Drawing and elements from EMDR therapy.
